About The Event
Never before has it been such an exciting time to be in the learning and development profession than it is right now. As new technologies emerge and change the very nature of jobs, and the skills that are needed to do them, companies need to invest more in reskilling and upskilling their employees. Companies want and need learning that is fast and economical with immediate results. However, as modern business practices move and change rapidly, it’s often difficult for employees to keep up.
Companies therefore, need ways of quickly plugging knowledge gaps, as and when they occur. Managers need flexible and quick training resources that they can use to help employees get their heads around new material or working practices without spending too much time out of office. In this regard, Online and eLearning offers benefits to both the organisation and the employee because it is flexible, scalable, it can be personalised and can save time and money.
Companies that can develop their employees in real-time achieve a competitive edge over their rivals. Not to mention that the modern learner demands learning opportunities for growth – organisations that don’t invest in learning opportunities for their staff, risk losing critical talent.
If you want to accelerate learning within your organisation, make it interesting, engaging and valuable and not just push content – attend the 2020 Online and eLearning Conference! Gain access to the tools that your organisation needs create experiences where employees can easily access the most relevant learning content the moment, they need it.

What the research indicates
In a recent survey undertaken by KR to understand the state of learning in a South African context, responses indicate that over the next five years mobile learning, virtual classrooms and games and gamification are expected to have the greatest impact on the L&D profession. A massive 89% of respondents from corporate SA indicated their use of eLearning/Online learning courses will grow, 81% indicated they will increase usage of mobile device-based learning and 73% expect an increase in using virtual classrooms and webinars.
The LinkedIn 2019 Workforce Learning Report stated that since 2017, 59% of talent developers spend more of their budget on online learning and 39% say they spend less on instructor-led training (ILT). While online learning will never fully replace in-person training, it is critical to enable modern learners to upskill when and where they need to. It also reported that learners are more mobile and social than ever. Mobile learning continues to increase—5% in the past year. And learners value more social, collaborative environments—both in the office and when they are engaged with online learning. The learner wants to be in control of their learning journey – online learning can accomplish this by providing learning at the moment of need.
