About The Event

Join us for a one-day Masterclass for talent development professionals, which focuses on how learning must become more innovative in creating and capturing value for the organisation.

The first part of this masterclass will focus on designing a digital learning strategy for your organisation.

By implication, learning is being disrupted. There is enormous pressure on talent development professionals to identify and build digital skills, now and for the future. Far too often, that pressure is further compounded by a lack of a clearly articulated digital learning strategy. Ready or not, digital competence is already differentiating the winners from losers, and organisations, must be agile and dexterous in order to survive. 

The second part of the masterclass will focus on designing a digital learning measurement dashboard. 

Ideally your digital strategy and your measurement model should be designed at the same time! Learning measurement often appears to be a perennial topic. The issue, however, does not seem to be one of whether measuring the outcomes and the impact of digital learning are necessary (as Peter Drucker contended with saying “if you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it”), but more (1) what should be measured, (2) how should it be measured, (3) what to report on and to whom, and, (4) how the information generated should be used to guide a proactive learning approach that guarantees the required people capacity at the right time given future, often uncertain organisational requirements in the context of Industry 4.0.

Masterclass overview:

The following topics will be covered during the experiential session:

  • Key digital learning trends for 2020;
  • A practical step by step guide on how to reframe your learning strategy to include digital;
  • A practical step by step guide on what and how to measure
  • Working towards a Learning Reporting Framework, and
  • Implications and considerations for talent development professionals.

Facilitator: Dr Letitia van der Merwe:

Dr Letitia van der Merwe predominantly collaborate with clients in the area where employees support the achievement

of specific outcomes that impact on business benefits to be delivered. In thinking about this interface, she is mindful,

deliberate and specific about how adults learn in the workplace; why, what and how we develop people; how we measure

their competence levels and making sure we see learning and development not as events, but as integrated processes.

Her areas of specific expertise include leadership and change, client centricity and project management. Her career encompasses experiences from a wide range of Leadership, Human Resources and Organisational Development projects and interventions in the private and public sector as well as in the world of consulting. She is an industrial psychologist

by profession and is the co-author of the books Learning In A Disruptive Age, Reshaping Leadership DNA and lead author of

the book Building the Corporate Leadership Community. She is currently working on another publication.
